Guy
Forsyth is known today mostly as a musician with gripping powerful
vocals as well as a master of numerous instruments including electric
& slide guitar, harmonica, ukulele, and the singing saw.
He’s been awarded
numerous awards including Blues, Best Male Vocalist, Best Miscellaneous
Instrument (the saw) by the highly regarded Austin Music Awards.
In the past year Guy has stepped up his touring significantly to
reach fans all over the United States, as well as continuing to
tour in Europe several times a year.
These days Guy
tours with his tightly knit trio, but also has an eclectic side
project called “The Hot Nut Riveters” which includes some members
of Guy’s first band “The Asylum Street Spankers.”
Over the years
Guy has had the pleasure to share the stage with many amazing musicians
such as BB King, Ray Charles, Lucinda Williams, Jimmy Vaughn, Dr.
John, Robert Cray, Bo Diddly, and many others.

- the Rites
of the Shaman's Path
The Munay-Ki are the Rites of the Shaman's Path of the Q'ero nation,
the descendents of the Inka, the indigenous people of the holy mountains
of the Andes in Peru and the Amazon. These Rites are being offered
as a gift, with the blessings of the Elders of the Inka. Traditionally,
one must spend many years in sacred study before and between receiving
these Initiatory Rites. The Inkan Elders believe that we are at
a critical juncture in human history and that these Rites need to
be transmitted to as many people as possible. These Rites are given
as the next step in the evolution of humanity; to realign and attune
our neuropathways and truly shift human consciousness. These Initiatory
Rites empower us to step up to the task of assuming stewardship
for the Earth and all creation. There are nine Rites in total. It
is hoped that these Rites can be transmitted to as many as possible.
Once someone has received all nine Rites, it is asked that they
pass them on to others. According to the prophecy, we will then
witness the birth of a new form of human on the planet and the dawn
of a new civilization.

As we prepare for Spring, and the upcoming festival season, many
of us are pulling out our drums, and thinking about the ritual gatherings
we will be attending this summer. We will chat with two most beloved
drummers about the power of African drumming, magick, spirituality,
ritual, and fire.

Mark
Girard,
is an artist and percussionist residing in New York's Hudson Valley.
His interest in combining music and ritual extends from his pagan
upbringing in a music driven household. Although he plays a wide
variety of percussion instruments and styles, the drums and music
of the African diaspora are his passion. He currently facilitates
a monthly drum and dance event in New Paltz, New York. We are very
pleased to have Mark with us in the studio...along with a playlist
of amazing African percussion.

Josselyne Price,
M.A. is a percussionist and ethnomusicologist, specializing in ritual
and rhythm of West Africa and North America. Additionally, she works
as a studio percussionist and vocalist in many recording projects
throughout the United States. She currently lives in Middlebury,
VT, and is on faculty at a private college teaching Ghanaian drumming
and World Music courses. Josselyne serves in advisory/facilitator
roles for many other national and local-level drum and dance based
events including SpiritFire Festival. Joss will be joining us by
phone from Vermont.
